⚠ Provisional editorial read. The July board is refreshed for song selection and rank direction, but the exact BMCM scores and per-platform positions below are a Boxoffy editorial estimate this cycle, pending the next full five-platform data sync. Song titles and credits are real; treat the numbers as directional, not measured.

Methodology & honesty note. The Boxoffy Music Canonical Model (BMCM) aggregates a track’s standing across five platforms into one weighted, reproducible score. Because per-platform song positions are not publicly retrievable the way box-office numbers are, this July edition is published as a provisional editorial read: the song selection, artists and credits are real and current, but the BMCM scores, rank order and per-platform presence are Boxoffy estimates to be replaced by the next full five-platform data run. New entries (Aadat, Chunnari Chunnari, the Main Vaapas Aaunga OST, Mismatched S3) are verified July arrivals; the Dhurandhar OST and indie singles carry over from the April chart. Industry figures (471B streams, $0.001 payout, ₹7,800 cr, IPRS +42%) are sourced from EY-FICCI, IPRS, IBEF and Spotify data. Verified July 2026.
India Streams the Most, Earns the Least — and the Cross-Platform Chart Is Where the Real Story Hides.
India is now the world’s second-largest streaming market — roughly 471 billion streams in 2025, 78% of them domestic — yet the per-stream payout on Spotify sits at $0.001, the lowest of any major market. Every move in Hindi music flows from that gap between consumption and cash.
No single platform speaks for India — which is the entire case for this chart. YouTube owns raw reach (~462M users); Spotify holds the largest paying base and the strongest discovery engine; Apple Music over-indexes on independent and audiophile listening; JioSaavn and Gaana anchor the Hindi-first mass market. A song that’s top-3 on Spotify can be mid-pack on JioSaavn and absent from Apple. Rank any one platform and you mistake a slice for the whole.
Film music still rules the aggregate — but the ground is shifting. Bollywood soundtracks remain ~80% of consumption, and the last two quarters proved it: the Dhurandhar OST (Shashwat Sachdev) stacked multiple tracks across the cross-platform top 10 at once, and A.R. Rahman’s Main Vaapas Aaunga score is a genuine composer resurgence. Yet independent and regional music is the fastest-rising force — regional now ~34% of consumption, indie labels ~26% of recorded revenue, and crossover acts like AP Dhillon (“Aadat”) dragging Punjabi-pop into the Hindi mainstream. The indie-breakout template — Sahiba (Aditya Rikhari) climbing on pure streaming with no film behind it — is now a lane, not a fluke.
The money is quietly professionalising: IPRS performance royalties hit ₹700 crore in FY25 (up 42%), roughly two-thirds of India’s royalties now flow to local artists, AI-generated tracks and remixes are going mainstream, and the live-concert economy is booming as an escape hatch from the $0.001 stream. Netflix soundtrack drops (Mismatched: Season 3) show streamers becoming music-breakers too. The aggregate top still looks like a Bollywood release calendar — but the cross-platform lens is where you catch the indie and regional surges a single-platform chart would miss.
